Working with the Kingpin to radiate aquatic substances (water), Gil Fish was beaten up and left for dead by Deadpool and tossed into a vat of that irradiated water. Letting the radiated water get into his wounds, the water radiated him to pure water. Able to control water at will, Gil Fish, thus calling himself Hydro, went after Spider-Man, thinking he was Deadpool .
